I am looking for a tire will will help me get the traction I need in my 66' Mercury 1/2 Ton truck. Street/Strip

Engine (521) should make around 700 H.P. I am using a C-6 trans, but I'm not sure if I am going to use a trans brake yet. Plan is a Calvert mono-leaf, cal-tracs, and sliders in the rear.

The street radials have a better selection of sizes, and since my tire is tucked into the wheel well, width is a concern.

I am looking @ the 30x12.5-15 tire right now, with an actual tread width of 10.9".

Looking for your opinion, suggestions. I would like to get my tire stuff figured out so that I can move on to my gear ratio and converter stall.

Thanks,

Derek.

That will be a very good tire for you. I didn't run that size myself but it seemed like they were made of super glue.

How much does your truck weigh? I have a trans brake in mine but was never able to use it because of the weight. It is very hard on driveline parts when coming off the line. I do have a 4500 rpm stall that worked well but I would still snap stuff so hitting it at 4500 rpm up on a trans brake never really seemed like a good idea. I also have a 521. Somewhere north of 700 hp. At least according to the times that I ran anyway using the HP calculators. My pig is close to 5000 pounds with me in it. That is very hard to drag race. I'm not sure what I was thinking when I built it.

Nice!! Thanks for the help guys...

Mr. S, my truck won't be quite as heavy as yours... It should weigh between 3700-4000 lbs. when complete. They were never quite as heavy as those gen. 6 trucks.

You go get em 52!

Thanks DJW . I did a typo , my convertor is a 3500 stall not 4500 . Hit the wrong button .
what is the street-ability like with a 3500 stall? Or is she not street legal?
