I have been toying with the idea of running E85 in my drag car.
Anyone else using it? I can get it for $2.95/gal, just down the road here.
my car is a D0VE 460 with a predator carb and edel intake. Otherwise stock inside.
Thanks

I built and dyno'd a 385 Cleveland that my daughter races
in her street/strip 67 Mustang FB. I cleaned and flushed the
OEM gas tank and it has been fine all year. Fuel lines are
steel or blue Earls hose. Pump is a Black electric Holley with
the recomended regulator. Carb is a Holley #6945 methanol
750 I modified for E85 A/F ratio. Engine has 10.5:1 compression
with a solid lifter cam. Engine dyno'd 453HP and 472 TQ on E85.
Its a real daily driver 3400 lb car and runs 12.50s. E85 is now
$2.18 gal here in northern IL. Pretty cheap for 110 octane
racecar fuel.

My carburetor guy has done some E-85 calibrations for some customers who run the stuff in some classes of circle track racing. He says that it can run very good, it's around 95-100 octane fuel and the carburetor package is sort of in between methanol and gasoline. You might want to give him a call, Bobby Oliver Competition Carburetion 775-331-5609

E85 in the Big block

Yes I am getting more and more interested in the corn squezzin's.
It's still more expensive here than pump gas.
$2.95 vs. $2.75 for premium.
thats here in Layton, UT No of SLC.

I talked to the guy that still makes predator carburators and he said it's an easy change to run E85 in a predator. since all the internals are brass.
and it's a cam that meteres fuel delivery. just change the cam out.
i will need to put a new fuel pump in though

What didcha do to the carb?

I tapped and plugged the .125" supplemental holes Holley
drills in the metering blocks. After a number of dyno pulls
and a bunch of on track (1/4 mi) testing I ended up with
80 jets front and rear, .045 shooters with the power valves
plugged. I believe the brown shooter cam?

DO NOT use the blue Holley gaskets!!!! E85 melts them!
The red gaskets seem to be fine tho and I've had no
problems with them. Change the fuel filter about every
other week for the first couple months until the E85 gets
the OEM gas tank cleaned out.
