BBF heads with Chevy exhaust?

Building a 521 for my jet boat and have not bought heads or cam yet. The exhaust I want to run is only available with a chevy big block pattern. So either I have to run adapters or find heads with chevy exhaust pattern. As far as I know, only options are blue thunders (impossible to find) or A460. Can I run A460s? or are they too much head for a pump gas motor? My original plan was to run SCJs but then the exhaust issue came up.

Thanks,
Sam

Maybe someone else has a better answer, but you could get the BBC headers, cut the flanges off and weld 460 flanges on. There are tons of places that have steel and stainless steel flanges for the 460. Just a thought. Some fab tweaks maybe.

I did that on my red 2007 Mustang where I used GT500 headers on a regular 5.4 with the Navigator head.

Those adapters from Charlie Evans work really well.
However, if you haven't got pistons yet, I would use the Trick Flow A460 heads which have the Chevy exhaust flange.

One problem with this stuff is that the headers will bolt on but they will be in a different position than if they were bolted to a big Chevy. Besides the difference in bolt patterns and bore spacing the Ford engine also has a taller deck height which will raise and spread out the headers and this might cause fitment issues with the exhaust headers in the boat. This would be even more of a problem if the Big Chevy port A 460 or Blue Thunder heads are used because they have the ports raised considerably.

The Blue Thunder "B" head uses an actual big Chevy bolt pattern AND that pattern is placed on the big Chevy bore spacing. A 460 heads use the big Chevy bolt pattern but it's spread out to the Ford bore spacing.

No Dave ... the Trick Flow brand A460 heads have the exhausts on the EXACT SAME BOLT PATTERN as the big block Chevy; 4.840" spacing.

EDIT: Sometimes with big block Chevy up-swept marine headers there will need to be some spark plug clearancing done to the header flanges.

a460s are not too much head for pump gas.
