Btw, nothing is built besides the heads being at the machine shop, the parts are on the shelf and a block on the stand. I can go any route from here with the right amount of cash.

Here is a link to an 87 octane D3 headed towing build we do. 530 torque and 420 ish hp with D3's and near 440 with the "Corrected" pro comps.
Feel free to use it as a guide.


With no port work and simply back cutting the intake and exhaust valves. The machinist will know. 27* BC
You can get about 390 ish hp.

Someone just recommended this cam and lifter kit to me, thoughts? I'd really like to just get something like this:
 
Custom grind is fine and all but I kinda just want to grab something.
That cam is a single pattern and is a no go for the BBF.

We have the 204 / 214 on a 112 on the shelf with USA made Johnson lifters notched to oil and aid in break in.
Can ship Monday or tuesday.

Shoes. Think of it like shopping for shoes for your kid's size 10 feet. You buy a pair of size 13 boots because you're tired and they're cheap. Can your kid run in size 13 boots? Well, yeah, but if your kid had size 10 sneakers . . . 😁

Yes you want a split lift on the BBF's.
I ran a .30 over 1977 block, home ported D3's with Comp roller tip rockers with guide plates, Cam was Lunita .516 lift intake and .543 lift exhaust and I believe 110 LC. . 750 Edelbrock and performer intake. At the drags first time out turned 14.5 1/4 mile in my 1964 4 door International Truck.

Our version of that kit has an engine pro cam and made in USA Johnson lifters notched to oil from the top down for break in. Think cam saver lifters.
