Who builds your tranny. A buddy of mine with a 3700 lb car keeps blowing his C4 up. Local guy built it. He wants to stay with a C4 but needs options for better builders. Thanks

Joel's on Joy (313) 581 6266 The fastest trans I have ever had 150 runs per year not a single problem. Then again trans has only seen 850hp for about 50 of the mentioned runs 9.02 at 149 3200lbs. the rest of the runs 700hp 9.65 at 137 3270lbs.

It is not always how much HP it can take, but the weight of the car it has to pick up and move that adds resistance to every part and stress I have a long list of 2000 hp rated parts that I have broken in my Garage with my 1100 hp 3200 lb car. A C6 or the "other brand 400" will be the better choice

Tranny

Nick,

We have a Performance Automatic SuperComp C-4 with trans brake in a 3000 lbs Mustang with 800 HP on motor.

They told us the tranny comes with a lifetime warrenty; we have used it for two years and no problems. Service was really good to.

Just my two cents worth.

Thanks all! I will let him know what you all said. I think he is tending toward PA since they are only 1 hour from his house in Gaithersburg MD. Me, I like my ATI C6! :D

He said he is going to talk to PA about a C4. However, he may just go to an ATI TH400 just to make sure it can take it with no worries.

They say 1000hp for the super comp lifetime warranty free freshinups for life how can you beat that i been using their comp c-4 for 4 years straight rated at 750hp and it was in my mustang two running 10:80s but still 4 years of nos abuse off the line @3200lbs pulling 1.42 to 1.44 60'.

at 900hp you're at the end of reliabllity of a C4 , build a C6 ( the build is on this site) get one of my C6 transbrake valvebodies and forget about the trans
Frank

I agree with Frank forget about the C-4 and build a C-6 you won't be working on it I think you will be breaking the C-4 with that kind of HP

Got some new stuff for my c4 today, should make it pretty reliable.

Of course if it aint it no biggie for me to pull it and fix the thing.

Stubborn I guess, that and I have to much money in the c4 stuff to give it up lol.

C-4 or C-6???

If you use the C-6 vs a C-4, do you loose any HP at the wheels?

I was told the C-6 is stronger than a C-4 but space concerns and the fact that we were only pushing 750 HP, the C-4 was the better choice.

???

If both are rollerized I think the frictional losses are about the same, but the internals of the c6 are heavier and require a little more effort to get stopped and start moving. The other thing with the c6 is to be sure the vb locks the rear band in low gear, the roller clutch is not all that good and will slip, but the band applied will eliminate the problem. Pretty positive Frank's vb does this, if I were to build a c6 it would use his vb for sure.
